State Co. of Fertilizers South Region

The State Company of Fertilizers / Southern Region, established in 1969 in Basra, produces sulphuric acid, ammonia, urea and ammonia sulphate in facilities at Khor Al-Zubair and Abu Al-Khassib. The Khor al-Zubair complex has 73,000 t/y ammonia capacity and 58,000 t/y urea. In 2024, Prime Minister al-Sudani opened new facilities including a 500,000 tonnes/year DAP plant developed with AAA Holding Group and a 1,500 tonnes/day plant built in partnership with UK-based AAA Holding Group.
